British Authorities Review Private Flight Data Linked to Epstein

(MENAFN) British law enforcement is examining details about private flights arriving and departing from Stansted Airport in London following the disclosure of documents by the US Department of Justice concerning the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, according to reports from media outlets on Tuesday.

A spokesperson for Essex Police stated, "We are assessing the information that has emerged in relation to private flights into and out of Stansted Airport following the publication of the US DoJ Epstein files."

BBC reported that while authorities are scrutinizing the data, it does not automatically imply that a comprehensive investigation will be launched.

Previously, a BBC investigation in December revealed that between the early 1990s and 2018, 87 flights connected to Epstein either landed at or departed from airports in the UK.

The statement from Essex Police follows claims by former Prime Minister Gordon Brown, who said the documents demonstrated in "graphic detail" how Epstein used the Essex location to "fly in girls from Latvia, Lithuania and Russia."

Last week, Brown wrote in the New Statesman that police must urgently reconsider whether Epstein's victims were trafficked within the UK and abroad.

In addition, Brown contacted the chief constables and commissioners of the Metropolitan Police, Essex, and Thames Valley Police.

Regarding airport operations, Stansted Airport told the BBC, "All private aircraft at London Stansted operate through independent fixed base operators, which handle all aspects of private and corporate aviation in line with regulatory requirements."
