Cenk Uygur, Hasan Piker Say UK Bars Entry Over Israel-Related Remarks
Uygur, co-founder of the US-based political commentary platform The Young Turks, said he only became aware of the restriction while preparing to board a flight to London, where he was scheduled to speak at the SXSW London festival and at Oxford University.
In posts on X, Uygur said UK authorities described him as “a serious risk to the public order.”
He wrote that “the British government is saying they're banning me because I am ‘a serious risk to the public order’ due to my criticism of Israel.”
He also claimed officials viewed his statements about Israeli influence in US politics as antisemitic, despite his assertion that his remarks were factual.
Uygur further argued that the decision was not based on comments about the United Kingdom itself, but rather on his statements made in the United States regarding Israel.
Hasan Piker also said he was affected by the same restriction, according to their accounts.
